Interesting
Can use gravity to pipe fresh water from up stream
(fresh because it's coming from the top of the mountains)
Unlike some of the other settlements, this settlement has two rivers close by there is a choice of water supply
(can swap if one is low)
Beach about 5km away so able to fish and land small boats
Close to fertile land
Our settlement is the closest to the dense tropical trees thus
ensuring a large variety of food sources
Close to building materials (timber in the forest)
The hill is less steep near our settlement as shown
by the distance of the contour lines making access to
resources easier.
Easier to build a track on a less steep gradient.
The rivers near by can also be used for transport.
The river in (4D to 3C) could be used to transport resources
from the fertile areas to our settlement.
Area most likely has coconut plants which have a number of uses and attract large coconut crabs
Reeds found in the area can be useful as a building material and sewerage filter
Our settlement is in a good position especially for cyclones and tsunamis becasue of the backdrop of hill it would make it a lot
easier to reach higher grounds quickly
Our settlement would be good for trading things like energy (produced from the wind) and we could trade the food collected from the forest area
As our settlement has some flatter areas to the east we could grow crops and raise smaller farm animals (chickens, ducks, etc)
Long way from a safe harbour
The lower reaches of the river could be
salty because of the proximity to the sea and the affect of the tide
Get the south easterly weather patterns that
typically for these latitudes recieve monsoon lows and sometimes tropical cyclones
Blocked by river to the east and mountains
on the west. Main transport could be boat or we'll need to build roads and bridges
Settlement couldn't be too close to the
beach beause of cyclones which means a mode of
transport from boats to the settlement would need to be in place
The settlement would be in the path of the south
east trade winds which would allow us to sail/trade with other islands
(using sail boats which is sustainable)
Windy area so could use wind as a source for energy
Nice sandy, sheltered bay area
